Animal Instinct

Animal Instinct

Recent Dec 16, 2012 Event of Delhi Gangrape has shook conscious of people in more ways than one, the brutality of the incident, the aftermath protests, and the insensitiveness of politicians were all triggered our conscious, which requires drastic change in our behavior and thoughts.
On what makes one do such crime? is harsher punishment(death) the answer for stopping these incidents?, on the spot emotions might say so but if we analyze deeper, there are many problems underlying which is causing such incidents, Just that Women are a softer targets of these problems.
The first question we should ask is What makes Delhi more prone to Rapes than other cities, One view could be that Delhi is one of the most contrasting cities, where you see people, who are rich business class or poor working class, you will find both Bullock carts as well as BMWs on the same road, (Delhi may be only the first, other cities may follow soon until we have inclusive economic growth) Obviously this economic-social Gap in the society and Lifestyle leads to degeneration of values and erodes the social cultural fabric of the Society, for instance in Rajnikanth’s Robot movie, there is a Scene where Aishwarya Rai is harassed by a Fisher man, his argument is “to have such a girl for one day, he can spend a life in jail”, that's the mentality these men are transforming into, they want to easily become Villains rather than to work hard to be a Hero. So it’s obvious that we need to start finding a solution for this.
One of the major reason could be, eroding culture and family values, somehow being in South India, I had been surrounded by Strong women – When I mean strong women, Women who had their views, who were more mature and Opinionated, These days Strong Women are only considered as one who goes to Work, but it is or was different in South India, where women where the Value representatives of the House, they were the program Managers who guided Men when it comes to Values but it is getting eroded as we pass from one generation to another, These days women are more content to carry out daily chores and hardly give importance to knowledge they get from their Ancestors. Now, Why it’s important to Women still continue the Values? It is because Men are more prone to listen or follow the way their  Mom or Sister lead them, and this very influencing at early age of their life, what greater value education a person can get than the guidance from their Moms and Sisters. To some extent North India is more patriarchal society where Men is more dominant and does not give their Women the right to influence their kids. And it’s more important for Parents, who have sons, to develop proper values in their sons, and it’s equally important that they pass these values to their daughters as well.
Another major reason could be is the Exposure to media, We are seeing a generation which has been exposed to TVs, Movies and all kinds of media  at a very early stage of life, and to be realistic where are not handling it well, the management of Content or Censor is not very effective, problem is we see the transforming of Content from the elitist point of view, where most people who debate or bring content Censorship are mostly educated and manage their kids well, but Most of the viewers who seeing the content are from lower economic class, with immature education , how do they handle the content is something is very different from what is perceived at the higher end, hence the Policies should always be at the root level representatives rather from the higher Babus, for eg:- giving the free laptop or TVs is the most easiest option of gaining Votes, but can the people who receive it are prepared to handle it?.. They are lot of questions than Answers.
There may be many symptoms, but the problem is always how a child is bought up in a society with Values, Man will not Change his Animal Instinct, it’s how he controls it through his Values is very important to eliminate such crimes.
